Draft Capital

Every pick a team has held, and every deal that moved it. Picks that have been used link to the player taken with them.

How to read a tree
  • A teal block is one trade, with the date on top and each team's haul below.
  • A yellow box names the team and what it acquired.
  • Purple marks a draft origin, where a player entered the league.
  • Amber sections trace the origin chain: the deals that brought a player here.
  • Green sections trace the afterward chain: what an asset turned into next.
Trade tree
One deal and everything downstream of it. A branch keeps going until the asset stops moving, whether that is a player on a current roster or a pick nobody has used yet.
Conditional pick
A pick whose round or year depended on conditions in the deal. It stays marked conditional here until the condition resolves.
Future pick
A pick in a draft that has not been held yet.
Result not recorded
A few older picks changed hands in deals whose outcome was never publicly recorded. Those show up here as unrecorded.
About the data

Rosters, transactions and draft results come from the NHL's public APIs, joined to a set of historical trades checked by hand. Data refreshes daily. The attribution page lists every source.

Older records are patchy in places. Some conditional picks are still unresolved, and a few pick outcomes were never written down anywhere. The terms of use go into what that means for anything you read here.
